((Backdated to, uh, after the interrogation plot thing finished up. So I guess that would have been Friday evening-ish? I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes posting this; it's just that Ray would post a wrap-up on the network. Just to let folks know what's going on. And again, if there's still a riot happening, Ray saying that there isn't is purely IC.))

[Ray's back at his desk. It's about as untidy as in his last video post; a few stacks of paper may have been shifted around. Ray himself looks sort of tired, but not quite as stressed anymore as he did last post. He managed to sort this one out! He thinks.]

Right. So. For anyone who hasn't caught on yet, there's no riot. It's not gonna happen. The ringleaders are all banged up in Zero, so nobody try anything, alright? Let's all just go back to, y'know. Whatever it was we were doing before all of this started.

[Warden Filter]

To summarize. I got Ardent down to Zero to question him; Narvin did the same with the Master. Ardent caved the moment he knew he was busted and came forward with all sorts of info. Most of it we knew already. 'cept maybe that the warden they were gonna frame was Narvin. Apparently the Master suggested it. That's what Ardent's saying; dunno how accurate that is.

I'm not sure what came of questioning the Master. Not much, I'm guessing, since the Master attacked Narvin during the interrogation. Narvin's fine, he managed to knock the Master out before he could do any serious harm. Both Ardent and the Master are down in Zero now. Ardent's gonna stay there for the full week; dunno about the Master. That's up to Narvin.

What's happening with the other two? Saffron managed to clear her name, did she? What about Arthas? I hear he attacked someone; is he in Zero, then? He should be.

That's it, I think. I'm still piecing together how it all went down exactly, but I think we managed to stop this one before it got outta hand. Thanks to Kay for being on top of things. If any of you've got any more info, I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know.

PMs to Lord Fanny, Kay, Narvin, Paddy, Ardent, and Una. )

((SO LOOKS LIKE KAY MANAGED TO KIND OF SABOTAGE THAT RIOT. Since once someone told Ray that Ardent might be involved in this, he started to ~investigate, and really, evidence wasn't hard to find. He feels kind of dumb for being so oblivious now. Sorry for possibly sabotaging this! I can't really figure out how else to have Ray react, though. Also, sorry for the spam. I felt that this should probably go in its own post.))

[Warden Filter]

[Ray's in his room, sitting at his rather untidy desk. He's got a notepad in one hand and is reading bulletpoints off of it. He seems pretty tense. This is because he just found out that his inmate is planning a riot, ffff.]

Right. So. That riot thing. Looks like Ardent's the ringleader. I just requested access to his private messages, and aside from a whole bunch of rants and speeches about the wardens--lots of crap about how we're the ones oppressing the inmates and how we're not a united front and could be taken down easily--I also found the following.

Ardent's primarily working with Saffron, Arthas and the Master. They want to incite the riot by having one of them kill Ardent and frame a warden for it. [He can't quite keep up the professional tone when he says this. Because WHAT THE FUCK, ARDENT.] Haven't found out yet which warden, but knowing Ardent, I'd say it'd probably be House. [That's wild speculation on Ray's part.] They want to use the dissent among the wardens that's to be expected after an accusation like this to unite the inmates in a search for the "culprit". [Those are airquotes he's doing, yes.]

Arthas was put in charge of leading and organizing the riot. Whoever Arthas' warden is, if you're not reading his private messages already, I suggest you start doing it now.

Doctor, that phone you were working on. Ardent broke it in order to cause more dissent and dissatisfaction. If there's been anything else that happened to anyone that they couldn't quite make sense of, might very well have been Ardent and his gang trying to cause more trouble.

That's what I found out so far. Oh, and they've been using the library to meet up and plan things. Doctor--other Doctor, the one in the beige suit--Ardent's banned from the library until further notice. And if you see any of the others skulking around, I suggest you kick them out as well.

Sorry for not catching this earlier. And thanks to Agent K for cluing me in. I'm gonna take Ardent down to the interrogation room on level zero and see what else I can get out of him. I suggest the wardens of the affected inmates do something similar.

[Private to the Admiral]

I'd like to be able to read all of Ardent's private messages. The ones he's posting in the future as well as the ones he's already posted. And I'd like him not to know about this, if that's possible.

[Warden Filter, added some time later.]

Anyone on this boat speak Dwarfish?

[Warden Filter]

One of the new arrivals is losing it up on level four. I'm going up there to sort things out. Anyone who's in the area, backup would probably be appreciated.

[After putting the message out on the network, Ray turns his communicator off, pockets it and heads for level 4. Any messages anyone might send him will have to wait until later to be answered.]

((OOC: Following this exchange with the Master. Ray's doing his duty as an (ex-)cop and is protecting his fellow Barge citizen. Or trying to, anyway. I have to go to work now, so no tags until later. I also assume that an OOC plotting post will go up about this, also later. JUST PUTTING THIS OUT THERE FOR NOW. Since Ray would definitely not just let that go.))

I said I was gonna put a call out to you guys--and ladies, of course--to come up to the pub tonight so we could talk about homicide protocols on this ship. I dunno, I'm still up for it, but, y'know, fair warning--I might start singing at you.

[Warden Filter]

[Ray's sitting at his desk, which he's cleaned up in honor of this semi-official occasion. He is trying to look Serious. The unmade bed in the background and the clutter lying around on the floor behind him is sort of ruining the effect, but he does look serious enough. It'll have to do.]

Ah, hi. So, I figured I'd put this on the warden filter, since it's kind of a warden type of issue, but really, this probably concerns inmates as well. I mean, security. That's what I'm talking about, I'm talking about security.

[He pauses and frowns, visibly trying to figure out how to best formulate his concerns. He's not much of a public speaker, but he's doing his best.]

I realize that people on this ship come from all over, time, space, what have you. So maybe I'm just, I dunno, having a culture shock or something. But where I come from, murder's a problem. As in, when it happens, I mean. People care. Sure, where I come from, people don't usually come back from getting murdered, but . . . I dunno, I just don't think that that makes it okay to go around murdering people for fun. The coming back bit, I mean. It's still murder, after all.

I guess what I'm saying is that this place needs a PD. A police force. Because really, I mean, people need someone they can call in an emergency. There needs to be procedure, a protocol. Otherwise what you get is anarchy. In the last week, there have been two homicides on this ship. Now, I realize it's a prison ship, and prisons can get nasty that way, but that doesn't mean it's okay to just let it go on. That's what I think, at least.

[Another pause and more frowning. He's not sure he got his point across as clearly as he would have liked to, but this is the best he can do, so he shrugs.]

Anyway. I'd, ah, I'd appreciate any input. That you have, I mean. On this issue.

((OOC: This is probably backdated a little, because I am slow. Ray is talking about Armand and Sylar getting murdered, and is posting this on the day of Sylar's murder. Which he wasn't involved in at all; he probably just overheard people talking about it in the mess hall.))

[Private to T'Pol]

[Ray's had one hell of an evening, what with finding Armand murdered in the greenhouse and realizing that the culprit is a blood-thirsty Aztec goddess who sees absolutely nothing wrong with hoeing people in the back and leaving them to bleed out. These things lie quite a bit outside of his usual range of experiences, and he's feeling a bit shaken up. He doesn't have many friends yet on the Barge, so he's contacting the one person he's been talking to the most. Never mind that she's a Vulcan who's maybe not the best candidate when it comes to finding people to have a heartfelt talk with. :| ]

Ah, hi. I know it's kinda late. You still up?
imjustpretty: (Default)
[After dinner, Ray had decided to take a walk into a part of the Barge that he hadn't had a chance to investigate yet. Being a ship, the Barge was mainly built for functionality, but now and again you would come across parts of the ship that weren't just long, bare corridors with harsh ceiling lights. One of these parts were the gardens. They had seemed rather pleasant when Ray had entered them, green and lush and smelling of earth and nature . . . until he had come across the greenhouse, had spotted the door standing wide open, and had seen the partial hand print on the door frame. It wasn't the earthy sort of hand print that you would expect to come across in a garden. Ray had been a homicide cop for long enough to recognize blood when he saw it.

Of course he had gone to investigate. No, he wasn't on the job, and no, he wasn't carrying a gun, but what he did have were years of training. You see a bloody hand print, you investigate. It was really very simple.

He had found the object of his investigation behind the third row of a tall weed that looked like a cross between mint and cannabis. A skinny young man with long, wavy hair lying on the ground, slumped against the garden poles, eyes showing white crescents under half-closed lids, blood gathering on his lips and on the grass underneath him. The spikes of a garden hoe were buried in his back.

Homicide cop or not, it had taken Ray a couple of seconds to get his wits about him. Then he'd dropped to his knees, one hand feeling for a pulse on the young man's neck, his other fumbling for the communicator in his pocket. It had still been set to video transmission.]

Ah, nine-one-one!

[The device's little camera was transmitting a close-up of Ray's wide-eyed, slightly panicked face, the garden in the background, and the tip of a garden hoe handle poking into the lower part of the frame.]

I need nine-one-one, I've got an emergency. Anyone? Martha! Infirmary, yes, infirmary works. I need a medic to, um, to the garden. The greenhouse. Dunno which one, I think there's only one. I've got a dead guy here, an injured guy, I mean. I've got a pulse, but it's flighty. He's got a garden hoe stuck in his back; he's losing a lot of blood, I think you better hurry. Is anyone getting this?

[Ray turned the communicator around and held it up so the camera was now covering the blood-spattered scene on the ground. He raised his voice.]

I said, it's an emergency! I need a medic down here, stat!

((OOC: The injured young man is Armand St. Just [[livejournal.com profile] young_idealist]. Ray doesn't know him, but anyone who does, feel free to recognize him.))
